The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Melrose Police Department's official public log for the period Dec. 4–10, 2023. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).


Monday, Dec. 4, 7:19 a.m., Medical Emergency: A medical emergency was reported; unit cleared the scene.

Monday, Dec. 4, 7:41 a.m., Welfare Check: A welfare check at the 500 block of Main Street resulted in services being rendered; an incident report was filed.

Monday, Dec. 4, 8:33 a.m., Trash Dumping: Illegal trash dumping was reported in the vicinity of the 30 block of West Highland Avenue.

Monday, Dec. 4, 12:25 p.m., Welfare Check / Citizen Assist: A citizen assist at the 500 block of Main Street resulted in a person being transported to the hospital; an incident report was filed.

Monday, Dec. 4, 12:33 p.m., Welfare Check: A welfare check near Lebanon Street and East Emerson Street resulted in a person being transported to the hospital.

Monday, Dec. 4, 3:36–11:48 p.m., Medical Emergencies: Five additional medical emergencies were reported throughout the afternoon and evening; two resulted in transport to the hospital, two in notifications being made, and one was resolved on scene.

Monday, Dec. 4, 8:53 p.m., Police Information: A report was filed at the 20 block of West Emerson Street.

Monday, Dec. 4, 9:29 p.m., Welfare Check: A welfare check resulted in a person being transported to the hospital; an incident report was filed.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 11:24 a.m., Complaint: A complaint was filed at the 200 block of Lebanon Street; an incident report was taken.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1:08 p.m., Well-Being Check: A welfare check at the Levi Gould House elderly housing complex on West Foster Street resulted in services being rendered.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 10:49 a.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Grove Street and Berwick Street resulted in a report being filed.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 6:05 p.m., Odor of Gas: An odor of gas was reported inside a structure at the 100 block of Upham Street; the incident was resolved.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 6:56 p.m., Unwanted Guest: An unwanted guest complaint at Cypress Park resulted in an incident report being filed.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 7:18 a.m.–10:59 p.m., Medical Emergencies: Eight medical emergencies were reported throughout the day; four persons were transported to the hospital, one was referred to another agency, one was resolved on scene, and one was cleared without transport.

Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2:56 p.m., Larceny / Fraud: A larceny, forgery, or fraud complaint at the 50 block of Windsor Street resulted in an incident report.

Wednesday, Dec. 6, 4:37 p.m., Commercial Alarm: A commercial alarm at the Melrose Family YMCA on Main Street was reported; the building was checked and found secure.

Wednesday, Dec. 6, 8:17 p.m., Motor Vehicle Stop: A motor vehicle stop on Maple Street resulted in a report being filed.

Wednesday, Dec. 6, 7:43 a.m.–7:28 p.m., Medical Emergencies: Nine medical emergencies were reported throughout the day; six persons were transported to the hospital, one was referred to another agency, one was resolved on scene, and one was cleared without transport.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 8:24 a.m., Vandalism: Vandalism was reported at the 20 block of Altamont Avenue; an incident report was filed.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 8:55 a.m., Residential Alarm: A residential alarm on Brown Street was investigated and found to be a false alarm.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 9:35 a.m., Larceny / Fraud: A larceny, forgery, or fraud complaint at the 200 block of Grove Street resulted in an incident report.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 10:35 a.m., Welfare Check: A welfare check at the 600 block of Franklin Street resulted in a person being transported to the hospital.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 11:08 a.m., Assist Other Agency: Police assisted another agency at Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Lebanon Street; an incident report was filed.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 3:52 p.m., Citizen Assist: A citizen assist at Cochrane Street resulted in services being rendered; an incident report was filed.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 10:17 p.m., Noise Ordinance: A noise ordinance complaint at the 90 block of Myrtle Street was addressed; peace was restored.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 10:56 p.m., Larceny / Fraud: A larceny, forgery, or fraud complaint was reported at Melrose Police Headquarters on West Foster Street; an incident report was filed.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 8:42 a.m.–8:41 p.m., Medical Emergencies: Four medical emergencies were reported throughout the day; one person was transported to the hospital, one resulted in an incident report, and two were resolved on scene.

Friday, Dec. 8, 9:10 a.m., Citizen Assist: A citizen assist at Warren Street resulted in services being rendered; an incident report was filed.
