Melrose Select Board Swears In Officer, Approves Finance Contract Extension

MELROSE — November 21, 2024 — Melrose Select Board swears in officer Adam Root and approves finance contract extension at November meeting. The board unanimously extended its service agreement with ABDO Financial Solutions through June 30, 2025, to support new Finance Director Jackie through the city's mid-February annual audit and to meet Government Accounting Standards Board requirements 87, 96, and 101. Former city finance director Tessa, now with ABDO, told the board the work is billed hourly and the city is not locked in past the audit. The board also approved patrol vehicle equipment from ETM Fleet Services — a package the police chief noted has risen roughly $5,000 in two years — and updated the city's fingerprint background check policy following a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension audit. City Attorney Scott warned that Minnesota's January 1 deadline for local cannabis regulations is approaching, with a public hearing on zoning set for November 25. Campground revenue for 2024 reached $21,763.50, up from a previous high of $14,592.69 in 2021.
