Melrose Approves Liquor License for New Riverside Flats Coffee Shop and Wine Bar

MELROSE — May 14, 2025 — Melrose Select Board approves liquor license for new coffee shop, wine bar, and deli at Riverside Flats. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to grant on-sale and Sunday on-sale intoxicating liquor licenses to Some Like It Hot LLC, whose owner said she hopes to open by mid-June pending construction. The board also approved a conditional use permit for Lamar Advertising to install a digital billboard at the Blue Door Storage property, renewed the city's LMCIT property and liability insurance at $158,624 — down 2 percent from last year — and adopted Memorial Day-to-Labor Day summer hours for the streets and parks department. City Administrator Colleen warned the board that a Minnesota Senate proposal would permanently cut local government aid by approximately 3.1 percent, a disproportionate hit to greater Minnesota cities at roughly $5 per capita compared to $2 per capita in the metro, and said budget work sessions are planned for August. City Attorney Scott announced he will retire June 30.
